Akumal Beach Resort

We loved this hotel although the rooms are dated. The fact remains that they all have sea views Block 6 is the best place to stay. For my part I found the bed very comfortable and we never ran out of hot water. For cons, the air conditioning system might have to be changed because it is more or less effective but you can always open the patio door and sleep to the sound of wind and waves. It was super clean, super quiet and we ate really well. The dining room is directly on the beach, the breakfasts are excellent, there is never a queue, the food in general is always fresh although the choice is limited but it is always good. Everything is close, it is never packed on the beach and there are always chairs available. By cons, be careful where you enter the water as a result of the reef, there's rock in the water but there is a place on the beach where it is very beautiful . And it is true that there are sea turtles because I had the chance to see one (loggerhead turtle) while snorkeling in the small port of Akumal, 5 minutes from the beach of hotel, it's really exciting. For those who are not necessarily looking for luxury, I highly recommend it.

In general, everything was fine. The hotel workers are very nice, and never feels obliged to tip. Tulum is close. I recommend the Altournative excursion, Tulum Jungle and Maya. Pleasure + + Descent into cenote harness, snorkel in cenotes, zip line through the jungle and meals in a Mayan village.

1 - the wine is not drinkable. So if you can, you make a reservation in Playa del Carmen and bring your own wine to the dining room. I do not mind at all servers. 2 - Air conditioning that does not cool enough.

Our best trip south to this day my wife and I! 1 to 8 September 2012 Arrived at the hotel every 2 only mini-van. About 1 1/4 hours from the airport. Smiling and friendly at reception (ca it's rare). Room down the block 7, away from everything. Best, because the most beautiful beach is left is to have the block 5 (behind the pool) or otherwise block 3 or 4. Superior room is plain but thought. Storage limited but adequate. No problems with hot water, air conditioning, toilet ... Large flat TV on the wall. The box is free (a key). Hairdryer but no fridge or coffee maker. Large balcony with sea view for almost all the rooms of all the blocks. Medium size hotel as a site. Ordinary pool, bar directly without clean water. 1 a la carte restaurant not tried (and great food at the buffet). Buffet glued to the sea, you eat and watch the sea I'm very picky and I confess that I ate like never before (chicken, pork, beef, fish, spaghetti, pizza ....). Everything is very good and the variety is correct. Snack bar to eat near the sea (hot dogs, Hambergers, pizza, ice cream ...) EVERYWHERE staff was friendly, courteous and fast .... never seen elsewhere!! The sea, yes SEA: white sand, clear water (unless it's windy too). Swimming smoothly and snorkel on the left side of the hotel. Forget the right side. J, did the snorkel envoron 20 times a week. Always a surprise every time, and especially different fish swim and watch the big turtles eat (people leave throughout Mexico for this). Bring your own mask, snorkel and fins. I've rented a lifejacket for $ 5.00 the day. Easier to stabilize to look deep water and safer to go further. Paradise snorkel and dive. Natural site turtle nesting, these places are protected by small fences. Early September, hotel probably about 25% full. No waiting ... Mexican families in the summer and on weekends the rest of the year, no problem! Do not forget that this Mexican hotel and run by Mexicans. You can rely on the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, it's true! Excellent service bars (3 bars). Enough palapas and trees for shade to the beach. Not much shade at the pool. Short distance to walk to the right of the hotel, but more to the left. Left immediately after the hotel there is a large bar and a large restaurant paying. At this point, there are many tourists who come for the day long snorkel or scuba diving or deep sea fishing nearly all these buildings, there are also souvenir shops and the village of Akumal close. Retout to the Cancun airport is very big with lots of shops and restaurants ... but everything is very expensive. FANTASTIC VOYAGE, the first time in 8 years and many trips I would go more than once in the same place, that says it all!!!!! L, try to adopt it.

If the beach and snorkeling are most important to you that the beauty of the room is the place to go. If you prefer warm human contact, rather than partying is what you find.

The site is not a 5 star but we forget all that with the quality of the beach, the best diving, friendly staff and a very decent buffet. Restaurant a la carte? There are only two that were open in turn.

Very nice hotel. Beautiful beach! Beautiful coral reef, but only 25% still alive. Many fish and turtles. Very good food. Impeccable service and courtesy. Standard room but clean. This resort is a little busy. During our stay, we have not been more than 75 people. It is very quiet as a place. It's disappointing to see how it could have potential, but given the lack of visitors, many building and building are closed. What makes this resort so spectacular is definitely the beach and its location near the bay to protect the turtles. Apnea is exceptional and really easy to see lots of fish and others. If you are not looking for a 5 star hotel, and you prefer the beach and tranquility and a beautiful place to snorkel, this hotel is what you satisferas warranty.

If luxury is important to you, this hotel is not for you. Lovely hotel, all facilities along the sea, one is never far from services or from our room. It's peaceful. The most beautiful beach in the Riviera Maya it seems, sandy, beautiful section of the Bay where you can swim safely even if windy due to the coral reef and bay that protects part of the range of waves. Friendly and courteous staff. Not much choice at the buffet but everything is well presented, it smells good, it's tasty and delicious. Very few tourists speak French, there are many Europeans, few Quebeckers. Excellent place for snorkeling, tourists from other hotels to pay to dive on the site mainly because of the turtles. Had a superior room with sea view, wow, a dream. The standard rooms are rather deteriorated. Everything is clean. The pool is not very large but few people swim in it so very convenient. The animation team really does his best, they are super friendly and they have talent. Good drinks, enjoyed the white wine, not red.

It was blowing a lot but it did not spoil our vacation, cons, really like snorkeling and water was not very clear because of the waves. Our mattress was uncomfortable, could feel the springs of the bed. Really did not like red wine.

Staff very polite and attentive. It's not a huge complex, so everything is nearby and easily accessible. It is easy to change money at almost any time. Mexicans do not wait after the tip. The buffet food is generally quite good for this caliber of hotel. There is not a very wide range, but we can still find some interesting things. The Italian restaurant is fine, the Mexican plain. This is a wonderful place for snorkeling. This was the main purpose of our trip. We saw turtles, barracudas, stingrays and even a shark bonus!. All large specimens and all that close to the beach. There are also beautiful schools of fish. It is really impressive as snorkeling site. I will try to insert some pictures in the video section and photos of travelers. Lack of palapas for shade when the hotel is at full capacity. Every day we were up to earlier and earlier (6:30 pm if not too bad!) To choose chairs. The house red is very bad (the buffet, insipid sort of dew). A little far from airport 1: 30 pm. The road is a bit flat to do because often arrested by the bump or traffic lights when it's not a "Retorno" to do.

Small hotel, very friendly atmosphere, staff very nice, very beautiful sandy beach, ideal for diving or snorkeling, interesting location for excursions into individual bus passing through régulèrement next to the hotel.

Requires some renovation. Does not have small refrigerator in the room, when my seven days on the water for the shower was just a trickle. Meals are correct and nothing more.
