In summer, the oppressive heat attracts many visitors on the Costa del Sol. A very popular seaside resort, the Màlaga region also attracts many tourists eager to discover Picasso and the Cubists. The Picasso Museum, at the heart of the old town, occupies an ancient medieval palace with its Catalan Gothic architecture. The Màlaga region is also known for its Viera Dolmen, a fascinating single-chamber megalithic tomb.
Let's head to the North and discover Valencia, a beautiful city you have to see. Home of the paella and of a tasty culinary tradition, Valencia is remarkable for its avant-garde, yet classical architecture. Amongst the must see building, its City of Arts and Sciences is the one attracting the most visitors. A futurist architectural site, the City was build at the turn of the 21st Century. The region of Valencia is also home to the wines of the Valencia and Alicante designation of origin, which flavours are truly astonishing.
Our route goes on to the North, to Barcelona. All shapes and curves, thanks to Gaudi, this festive city never sleeps! Discover the huge and unique Sagrada Familia basilica. Take the time to stop at one of the city's many terraces and enjoy some sangria. Only then will you understand Barcelona's festive reputation. Is it too hot? Just head to the beach, only minutes from downtown and cool down in the Mediterranean. In the evening, sample some tapas and dance the n night away in one of the city's many clubs.
You will nevertheless have seen only a small part of Spain. You won't have danced in Ibiza. You won't have experienced the road to Santiago the Compostella and its magnificent rural scenery. You won't have visited Toledo, wonderful medieval town, where every street is a discovery in itself. And you have seen Salamanque, Seville, Cordoba and all those fascinating cities thanks to which Spain is a truly unique country. But that can't be helped, because to discover Spain's every attraction would take more than one lifetime!
