Santa Lucia

Between a national park, an ocean full of multicoloured coral, historical sites and an immaculate white sanded beach there is the coastal resort of Santa Lucia; a region consecrated to rest with natural exploration and nautical sports. Near from Holguin, this touristic destination is less known and calmer then its neighbour. Santa Lucia opens itself in a totally different way. In the national park of Sierra de Cubitas, come and explore the caves where the Munoz people give their testimony by wall paintings about the arrival of the first explorers and Spanish conquistadors. You can travelling on the coast, where more than 20 km of beaches are awaiting you for a walk that never ends. Under the water there's a majestic reef that's truly a natural home for the tropical fishes, corals, crustaceans and marine plants that you will get the chance to photograph. As an area where the fish are abounding, Santa Lucia gives you the opportunity to do some sportive fishing next to the coast. A trip to Santa Lucia is incomplete if you do not visit Camaguey, the major historical center in Cuba. The town wears the mark of the past as one of the first establishments for the Spanish conquerors. Houses with lively colours appear as you explore a labyrinth of streets in the regional capital. Among many places to visit is the natal residency of the fighter Ignacio Agramonte as well as other numerous historical places in town, especially San Juan de Dios' place. Many coloured churches make Camaguey a charming town to visit. If you had to choose a time to visit Santa Lucia, it would certainly be the second week of February when the festival of Santa Lucia opens. The party takes place in hotels, cities and on the beaches. Competitions, singing, dancing, music; it's a festive spirit who takes the control of the area! The rest of the year is mostly calm. The action will be set on the places and parks of Camaguey, the magnificent. Santa Lucia is definitely a destination to discover.
