Comments from Chantal on Hotel Playa Coco :

Positive :

I left a little unsure with the negative reviews I read. I do not understand why it is said. My room sea view was great size and very clean. The buffet restaurant was good and the great Tokyo. The staff was nice with a few pesos ... The animation was really fun. I'm really disappointed not to have Chiosi this hotel for my vacation.

Negative :

The beach opposite the hotel had lots of rocks at low tide and there was algae. Walking a few steps to the right, it was really beautiful. The pool water was cold to the temperature.

Comments from Josée Dumont on Hotel Playa Coco :

Positive :

Firstly, following comments that I read, I was pleasantly surprised. It's very simple hotel, but everything was very clean, he lacked nothing, everything worked well in the room (hot water, air conditioning etc.). The site is well maintained, despite the people who throw their empty glasses everywhere. Nice atmosphere in the lobby bar, (music every night) fast and friendly. The bathrooms are cleaned the site very often. As for the buffet, everything was "okay". It's not a 5 * but we ate it right all week. The Japanese restaurant is very good, but Italian is ordinary. For lunch we ate at the beach bar and it was fine too. I think for a family with young children, this is a good place considering that the tide descent in the afternoon and the water is shallow. The beach is beautiful, but not wide enough for my taste (except at low tide). The beach service is much appreciated. Finally, we had a great week. We were my husband, my son (15 years) and me. Overall, this is a place to rest, quite isolated, and with many Quebec families. I put a 1 excursions and visits since we have not done. (This was our third trip to Cuba)

Negative :

Little vegetation on the site, narrow beach at high tide, unheated pool (he was only 24 degrees in pm). What we like least is the number of Quebec families who appropient entire site. People trying to move Cuba to Quebec. As some have done in Old Orchard and Florida. That said, I can understand that for some people it is reassuring to see many of Quebec who speak their language away from home. It's not really a negative comment, this is a finding, and we realized that we liked least.

Comments from Louise S. on Hotel Playa Coco :

Positive :

Sincerely, very surprised ... I do not expect a site as well. The food was very good (despite the comments I've read). The a la carte restaurants were very good (a bit less for the Italian, but still it was not worse). The beach was beautiful ... Cubans are very nice and polite. Having been to Varadero last year (Sirenis La Salina) I preferred the Oasis; smaller site, more personal, food 100 times better ... much greater range. For the price .. it's worth. Music in the Hall every night ... there are 2 out of 7 nights fun (unfortunately they stop when the show comes out), other times it's a quiet pianist. Orchestra at the pool and dancers that involve people. If you can ask the building 4 or 5 .... they are facing the sea

Negative :

Cayo Coco ... not much to do except the excursions that cost $ $ $ $. Nearest town Moroon and cost 70 pesos to get there. We paid $ 35.75 per $ 100 Canadian so the excursions are expensive. But for a week of rest is perfect. The biggest downside: insect bites (sand flea probably) ... but it's not everyone who suffered ... So if you go hunting make mosquito, Benadryl and calamine, if . I do not know if it's always like that out there ... but do not take any chances.

Positive :

The a la carte restaurants were very good. By rank, Kioto, Fruit of the Sea, and finally the Italian. The staff in general very well, especially those directly to the public, eg. bars and a la carte restaurant.

Negative :

The room service, clearly a lack of basic products, eg toilet paper, paper handkerchiefs and wipes also absent absent. This is problematic when it's first trip to Cuba. The Resto 24 hrs, the Guantalaméra, poor service in general, of a lack of staff! so that the hard working and are frustrated little service. Lack of nouriture announced regularly on the menu that unsophisticated vacationers!

Everything was clean and the staff was smiling. Room large and well cleaned. Maid service very nice. I asked him to change the sheets every day and it was done. She even handed a bottle of rum. Japanese restaurant very good and very Italian.

Negative :

Sand fleas, very unpleasant. Only four people have, but I saw several other customers like me. Repetitive buffet lunch and dinner. Lot of wind and temperature not too hot. for Spring, but nobody can do anything on this side.

Positive :

Very very nice, spacious and comfortable, acceptable food. The a la carte restaurants are good, especially the Japanese. There are many chairs at the beach. Nice large bathroom. Balcony with two chairs.

Negative :

Can not have her room before 4:00 at this hotel. Reception staff inconvenient and arrogant. Almost no vegetation on this site. I have never seen a gardener based. Everything is dry, there is no watering trees and lawn. The beach is nice but nothing more. Many coral and rocks to enter the sea is very unpleasant when you love to swim. This is not the place to take long walks on the beach because the sand is soft and recessed area that much. This lack of staff at the buffet, you should always beg to be served. The bartender and bartenders have always Baboune, it still seems to be bothered. To clean the outside of the rooms, it is poor. Someone spilled something sticky on the floor in the hallway and it was never picked up the week. It was around this puddle at the risk of stick the feet. I do not think back to this hotel unless you have quite a deal.
