Cuba

A magnificent Caribbean island, Cuba is packed with activities for every taste. Well known for her cigars, her beaches and her hearty people, Cuba can offer a lot more to Canadians travellers visiting the Island every year.

In the Island Western part, you are invited to discover Cuba's culture and tastes. Havana, Cuba's economical and cultural Capital, abounds with museums, historical buildings and interesting monuments. One can still see the traces of Spanish colonisation in the plazas, cobbled streets and monuments that embellish the city. You will discover Cuban gastronomy in the city's many typical restaurants. Also, go ahead and visit Havana's numerous cabarets! Visit cigar manufactures and tobacco plantations in Pinar del Rio. Tobacco products from Pinar del Rio are renowned for their quality all around the world.

You'd rather stay on the Island Eastern part? You won't regret it! Santiago de Cuba, a beautiful historical town with many attractions is located on the Island South-eastern Coast. From Plaza del Marta to City Hall, the city abounds with architectural monuments that you have to see. Santiago de Cuba is an entertaining city full of cabarets and clubs. In Santiago de Cuba, you will find, without a doubt, an activity that suits your tastes.

Cuba remains a destination of choice for her beaches and hotel complexes. Canadians choose Cuba for the beaches, the friendly personnel, the many activities, the competitive prices and the safety they enjoy. Travelers can choose between canoeing, sea kayaking, sailing, catamaran sailing, deep sea fishing and let's not forget those long tanning sessions!

But you don't have to be torn between leisure and cultural activities. In Cuba, many seaside resorts are located less than two hours from urban centers. Cuba is the ideal rendezvous for beach lovers and urban activities amateurs.

The tourist card is handed out on the flight to Cuba and the cost of this tourist card is included in the price of your vacation package, so no extra costs to add. Please bring Canadian money to change into local currency ( Convertable Cuban Pesos CUC) once in destination. *Please note that CUCs do not have any value outside of Cuba, so we recommend that you change small amounts depending on your needs. The exit tax of Cuba must be paid in local currency and in cash only.* There are no cash machines available on the island. In terms of credit card use please refer to your issuing bank, also please note that credit cards issued by an American Bank will not be accepted in Cuba. For more information on other destination please refer to the Forgien Affairs site of the Goverment of Canada http://travel.gc.ca
Please remember there is a 25 CUC exit tax to pay upon leaving.
In effect since May 2010, the government of Cuba requiers all passengers to have medical inssurance and proof to enter Cuba. Even though most provicial medical insurances cover the requierments of Cuba, it is highly recomended to purchase a private insurance policy to ensure proper coverage as the provicial ones are very limited. For those who already hold a private inssurance, we recomend that you verify the extent of your coverage with your insurance provider.
